An exceptional pair of parcel- gilt south German Rococo brackets. Each has a shaped white painted platform with polychrome foliate decoration below. The supports are mirrored with an elaborate shell scroll flanked with polychrome foliate carving. The paint work is in an exceptional state of conservation. (comparable polychrome rococo works principally set against a white ground can be seen in the Munich residenz and in the Metropolitan museum in NY)
