An important pair of George II carved giltwood candle stands or terms attributable to Benjamin Goodison or John Boson, the tapered terms surmounted with classical female heads, each supporting flower head carved ionic capitals, the shoulders with draped swags above embrocated panels centered by richly carved drop pendants of oak leaves and acorns, the sides similarly embrocated with all over fish scale carving, the bases with ribbon and rose carved moldings and terminated with foud embrocated and acanthus ornamented inverted scrolled feet.

Provenance:
Van Alen, Vanderbilt, and Astor Families of Newport, Rhode Island and New York City. The last member was an owner of the Van Alen family, Jimmy Van Alen of Wakenhurst and Avalon Estates, both of Newport, Rhode Island.
