A very rare and unusual "Buhl" writing table employing ebony and rosewood as a ground to the brass marquetry, incorporating an early 18th century Regence boulle top, decorated with musical vignettes and floral arabesques inspired by the Louis XIV designer, Jean Berain. The frieze conceals a drawer on each side and is decorated with foliate ornament against a brass ground. The writing table stands on rectangular, tapering columns. Each supported by a plinth base and joined by a shaped stretcher. Bearing the trade label of Town & Emanuel.The contre partie pair to this table is now at Hinton Ampner, Hampshire.
