A rare George I walnut bureau bookcase having a tall, broken arch pediment with concave moulded cornice, above a centred inlaid sunburst and flanked by two simpler ones. Below having arched doors with bevelled mirror plates and with candle slides below, all flanked by canted pilaster corners; the lower part having a sloping front enclosing the bureau section, above two short and three long graduated drawers in the base, retaining their original brass handles, the bottom drawer incorporating the very rare feature of an inlaid sunburst recess at the centre. The whole raised on unusual cabriole feet; the sides of the cabinet with brass carrying handles.
