A very fine and unusually well preserved English crewelwork hanging, probably originally a bed curtain, of twisted embroidered wools worked on a twill cotton ground; the designs of tree of life pattern, partly derived from Indian painted hangings and partly influenced by European tapestry; the exotic leaf and flower forms with endlessly inventive variation, all stemming from an undulating ground filled with small flowers, and with a hunter blowing a horn and with his dog in pursuit of a stag. The colours very well preserved.
