Made To Your Requirements
Mallett are very pleased to be able to offer our clients a bespoke service, creating pieces of exceptional quality, made-to-order to your requirements.
Our pieces are handcrafted at our restoration business, Hatfields, which was founded in 1834 and granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria. Hatfields have put their name to other collections of international importance, restoring metalwork at the Wallace Collection when it was opened to the public in 1901, and working extensively on the bronze collection in The Louvre in the early 20th century. They have also conserved furniture for the Frick Collection in New York, amongst other institutions.
Our team of ten craftsmen carry out cabinet making, polishing, gilding and paint finishing all at our premises in South London, and we also have an outstanding network of outworkers who have been chosen over the years and we are proud to be able to put our name to their work. The quality of the craftsmanship of all of these made-to-order pieces is consistent with Hatfields’ experience and reputation as one of the finest restoration workshops in the world.
Amongst the pieces we have available to order are brass hall lanterns, faithfully reproduced from an original 19th century deign and can be made to size, to suit individual requirements: the glass can be hand-blown, and the brass given a gently aged look with an oiled rather than lacquered surface.
Hatfields can also offer additional client services, working with decorators or designers on projects and sending experts to oversee installation, picture hanging and on the spot restoration and polishing. Mallett can provide advice on this, or alternatively, contact Hatfields directly via their website.
